Nello statement viene spiegato tutto nel migliore dei modi; mi limito, quindi a copiare alcuni dettagli così come sono.
What are We Doing?
Thence we came forth to rebehold the stars.
Dante Alighieri (Inferno XXXIV, 139)
Try to imagine the people of the world: their wishes, dreams, and hopes for success or peace. Imagine if we could see them all together, at the same time, looking up from their terraces or roofs, looking out their windows, or looking to the open sky in the fields, on the decks of ships or the tops of mountains: all of them with their nose pointed up at the stars, each with their own wish ready to be made.
Never Ending Night presents the first ever live, 24-hour projected stream of the starry night sky from observatories around the world in an immersive experience.
Our goal is simple. We want to bring the stars to the people, regardless of time zone, time of day, geo-political borders, culture, religion, gender or any of the other lines that divide us. And we want to stream it anywhere: in museums, schools, planetariums, bars, sidewalks, storefronts or anywhere else we can think of.
And we need your help!
What We Need & What You Get
Our first location is in the arctic circle at the Italian base “Dirigibile”. There the night lasts for six months. We need a camera that can, not only take high resolution pictures in low-light conditions, but can also survive an inhospitable environment.
This is where you come in!
As you can imagine, these cameras are not cheap. On top of that, we will use Amazon’s EC2 cloud services to turn this into an open source API for anyone to analyze the pictures as macro-observations from the Earth. We have a team of scientists, astronomers and programmers advising us, but we would like to pay for their hard work.
Contributions large and small all add up.
In return, you will get a piece of the stars. We have some wonderful perks all made by the artists themselves. These are one of a kind and will be made just for you.
